Qualification and courses accepted to qualify?

The nursing qualification obtained in your country must be recognised in Germany. "Bachelor of Science in Nursing" is the most prestigious and accepted degree and is usually recognised. The competent authority for your case will check whether your professional qualification is equivalent to German qualifications. If this is not the case, you could take an assessment test or go through an adaptation period to prove an equivalent level of knowledge.

How long will it take for the compelete process ?

The whole process will depend on your German language knowledge. If you have the B1 Certificate in your hands, the process will take only 3-4 months. If you don't know German, the process will take 8-10 months.

Is any specialisation I have helpful ?

Both general nurses and specialised nurses are required. The higher your qualification is, the more salary you can earn from the first day. Are you specialised or have additional qualifications in, for example, gynaecology, intensive care, paediatrics, neurology or any other field? Please inform us when you apply and point this out in your CV.

What is the average salary being offered?

Your basic salary will be between 2,500 EUR - 3,500 EUR or sometimes higher depending on which city you are employed in, your qualification, and the department at the hospital you will be working. The better qualified you are (for example, intensive care), the higher your salary. The hospitals also pay an additional night shift allowance if you work during the night. In addition, you have extra subsidies like overtime payments or holiday/weekend allowances.

Do I need to know the German language to apply?
The B1 certificate for the German Language is the requirement of the German government to be able to have the visa issued. The Goethe B1 is a Basic German Language Exam for young people and adults. In comparison to C1, German B1 is much easier as it does not go into the very depths of the language. You can both take classes and sit for the exam at one of the Goethe-Institutes located around the world or with one of their exam partners situated in your area. You may also choose to take classes elsewhere and take the exam at Goethe.
When do I need to provide the documents?

Firstly you need to send us your complete detailed CV, including where you have worked and your work experience listed. Once you are accepted and signed your employment contract with the hospital, we will need your licence documents to have them certified and translated for the government process. We will take care of the translation into German and the certification process with the German government.

Will I get an accomodation - if yes for how long?

From your arrival in Germany, the employer and we are taking care of you. Since we work with many different institutions (employers), there are other processes. Usually, the employer will provide you with accommodation in their dormitories until further notice. It could be up to one year, but in any case, you will need to pay your total from your salary as there are no allowances for accommodation in Germany. You can either share a flat with other nurses you made friends with or rent your apartment, but we're with you all the way, and we will help you find a suitable accommodation.

Is there any bond/contract for this opportunity?

After you have sent us your complete application documents, we would like to get to know you via online chat. After that, we sign an agreement to ensure that you will come to Germany and attend a language course in your home country in advance and conclude it with the certificate "B1-Nurses". At the same time, we take care of a suitable employer for you, followed by an interview between you and the interested institution, moderated through us and finalised with a contract between you and the employer.

After how many years can I apply for the German citizenship?

The right to apply for German citizenship arises if the following conditions are met:

1) You have a residence permit at the time of naturalisation.

2) You have had your habitual legal residence in Germany for eight years.

3) You can make a living for yourself and your dependent family without social assistance or unemployment benefit.

4) You have sufficient knowledge of German.

5) You know Germany's legal and social order and living conditions + You are acquitted of a crime (minor convictions are irrelevant).

6) You are committed to the free democratic order, according to the Constitution Law of the Federal Republic of Germany.

7) As a rule, you must give up your old nationality when you naturalise. There are some exceptions, too, so do check.

Can I take my family to Germany?

You can also bring your children to Germany because if you or your spouse are entitled to live in Germany, your children under the age of 18 are also entitled to a temporary or permanent residence permit. Bringing your children to Germany: If your children are citizens of a country not in the EU or the EEA, they will generally need a visa to enter Germany. If you and your spouse hold temporary resident permits for Germany, your children under 16 years of age will also receive a temporary resident permit to join you (Section 32 German Residence Act (AufenthG)). If you are a single parent, you can also apply for a visa for your children. However, in this case, you will need to obtain the other parent's consent entitled to custody. To get a visa to join you, your children must also meet the following criteria:
They must not be married, divorced or widowed.
They must be under 18 years of age.

What are the requirements for my spouse to join me?

Even if your partner is a national of a non-EU country, you can look forward to living together in Germany. For your spouse to be able to join you, the following requirements are to be met:

Right of residence: As an employee, you have a temporary or permanent residence permit or an EU Blue Card for Germany.

Accommodation: You have rented or bought accommodation in Germany which is large enough for your family. You can find tips on finding accommodation in our section on Living in Germany.

Health insurance and money: You have sufficient health insurance cover and funds to be able to care for your family.

Legal age: Your spouse is of legal age, i.e. at least 18 years old.

Basic knowledge of German: As a general rule, spouses coming to join their partners must have basic knowledge of German. This ensures that they can communicate in German from the moment they arrive in Germany. For example, they should be able to ask the way, go shopping or introduce themselves in German.

How much is the Government deduction from the salary?
The Government Deduction from the salary depends on your compensation and tax classification. If you are single, you pay a little more tax than married. Having children also plays a role. There are different rules and regulations. In general, the government is deducting from your salary: Income tax + Church tax (if you are a member of the church) + Health insurance + Unemployment insurance + Nursing insurance + Pension/Retirement insurance.
What will be the working hours in Germany?

Working hours applied in Germany are as follows: 8 hours per day, five days work-week and two days off (Saturday and Sunday). You get off-days in lieu if you are required to work on some weekends.

Are there any additional tests to be cleared to get a nursing job?

Upon arrival in Germany, you will first be classified as an assistant nurse. After about six months, you will take a practical exam and undergo the B2 language test if you do not yet have it. After that, you are a full-registered nurse and will be appointed accordingly.

When can a nurse apply for German PR?

With the permanent EU residence permit, you can also live and work in Germany permanently. The permanent EU Residence Permit (Section 9a AufenthG (German Residence Act)) is a permanent residence permit comparable to the settlement permit. Holders of the permanent EU Residence Permit can migrate to almost every EU country and get a residence permit on facilitated conditions.

  1. You get the permanent EU Residence Permit if you meet the following requirements:
  2. You have legally lived in Germany for at least five years;
  3. You can financially support yourself and your family members;
  4. you have a sufficient command of German and basic knowledge of the legal and social system and way of life in Germany;
  5. You have enough living space for yourself and your family;
  6. You have paid the compulsory or voluntary contributions to statutory pension insurance for at least 60 months.
    For specific residence permits, it is not possible to obtain a permanent EU Residence Permit, e.g. those in possession of a residence permit for educational purposes or specific humanitarian reasons.

Salary calculation example (Married, no children), 3,000 EUR salary (before tax).

Salary 3,000.00 EUR
Income Tax - 160,00 EUR
Church tax (if you are a member of the church) - 12.80 EUR

Unemployment insurance - 36.00 EUR
(Family) Health insurance - 232.50 EUR
Nursing insurance - 53.25 EUR
Net salary 2,226.45 EUR

The tax system in Germany is quiet complex. The example above is only an example and based on 3,000 EUR basic salary. We assume no liability for the correctness of this data as the taxes are subject to change.
